Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) and Chris Watson (born in Paris). They was moved to Oxfordshire in the year she turned five and enrolled in the Dragon School. Emma always had the desire to become a professional actor from the age of aged six. She studied at Stagecoach Theatre Arts in Oxford, an acting school with part-time courses. When she was 10 years old, Emma took part in numerous Stagecoach productions and plays. Casting began in 1999 in the production of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered by Emma's Oxford Theatre instructor. David Heyman announced to Emma that following eight auditions Emma and Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. Emma's first screen appearance came with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's premiere in 2001. It was the year's top earning film, smashing records during the opening day and first weekend. The film received praise from experts, and also by the performance of three new stars. The Daily Telegraph, a widely read British newspaper, was awed by her for her outstanding performance. Emma's performance received nominations and was awarded five awards for the movie.
